Background
The basic idea in the photo is to illuminate the subjective
aspect in understanding and producing language. That aspect
is reflected in the word in the three book covers ("green",
"yellow green" and "chartreuse"). Moreover,
the number three refers to the classical division into concepts,
names and objects. From the point of view of cognitive science
and intelligent systems engineering, the picture can
be used to raise the question of how to related the
linguistic expressions to real-world perceptions and, furthermore,
how to relate expressions used by different people or agents
in different situations.
