T-61.183 Eye assignment, spring 2005

A suggestions for an assignment for T-61.183 Multimodal systems, spring 2005:

Assignment could be generic: Familiarize yourself with e.g. the references given below and make a presentation of the topic of most interest to you. Or then the assignment could be given on a more specific topic or a combination of such topics, as

• basic properties of eye movements and their use in multimodal systems (how they are measured, areas of application)
• eye movements in specific cases (e.g. when reading [reading has been studied a lot], browsing [browsing/searching is important, but has not been studied that much] or looking at the web pages [how people look at the web pages is important at least to the usability people and advertisers] and/or pictures, driving a car [there has been some work on incorporating eye movement measurements to cars])
• eye movements as an implicit feedback channel (e.g. in information retrieval, iDict)
