What to buy, if anything? These books are also available for reading and overnight loan from the T library (T Kur). You can take a look at the library copies before deciding whether to buy a copy yourself. If you want to buy only one book for the course I would recommend the Ware's book. It is a good book on scientific approach to visualization, and it will cover about a half of the course. Tufte's book covers about quarter of the course. Unlike Ware's book, it can be read through quite fast, although really understanding the content will take considerably longer. Tufte's book is a classic, and if you are serious on visualization, this book should appear in your bookshelf. :) Card's book is a collection of articles, with good introductions. Some of the articles are excellent, others are not. You should take a look at the library copy and decide whether you want to pay for this article collection or not. http://www.cis.hut.fi/Opinnot/T-61.271/a2003/bookorder.shtml t61271@james.hut.fi Wednesday, 10-Sep-2003 11:02:55 EEST |
