Kurssi luennoitiin viimeisen kerran keväällä 2007.
Viimeinen tentti keväällä 2008. Korvaava kurssi - eri sisällöllä -
on T-61.3050 Machine Learning: Basic Principles.
The course was lectured last time in Spring 2007.
The last exam in Spring 2008.
Replacing course (with different contents)
is T-61.3050 Machine Learning: Basic Principles.
suomeksi
In spring 2007, the course is lectured on period IV
Tuesdays 12 -
14 o'clock and
Wednesdays 12 - 14 o'clock in the lecture
room
T1. The first lecture is 13th March. The course will be
lectured by docent
Kimmo
Raivio and DSc
Markus
Koskela. Lecturers can be reached during lectures, or in the Lab
of Computer and Information Science, room B305.
The course assistant is
Dipl.Eng. Matti Pöllä,
room B332. The exercises are on
Thursdays
12-14 o'clock and
Fridays 10-12 o'clock in the lecture room
T1. The first exercises are on 15th March.
The course is based on the book
S. Haykin: "Neural Networks - a Comprehensive Foundation", 2nd edition,
Prentice-Hall, 1998. Only Chapters 1-5 and 9 of the
book are discussed in this course. Master copies of these chapters are
available in the office of the Lab of Computer and Information Science
(secretary Tarja Pihamaa) for copying them on your own response.
The problems and their solutions are available
in copied course material. These materials are in English, but lectures
and exercises are presented in Finnish.
The course includes also a project work. Project
work assistant is
Dipl.Eng. Matti
Aksela, room B330, Computer Science house, tel. 451 5276. The
project work deadline is 31st May 2007.
For getting the credit points,
both your examination and project work must have been accepted. The
next examination of this course will be on
Thursday 30th August 2007,
9-12 o'clock, in lecture room
T1.
The course covers the following topics:
- Introduction to neural computing (Chapter 1);
- Overview of principles and methods of neural computing (Ch. 2);
- Single-layer networks and their learning rules (Ch. 3);
- Multilayer perceptron network and back-propagation learning (Ch. 4);
- Radial basis function networks (Chapter 5);
- The self-organizing map and learning vector quantization (Ch. 9)
A detailed list of
exam requirements is given
on a separate page.
As well as
the lecture schedule of the
course, which will be updated as course goes on.
